[Handwritten Note: We have blue print] Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your kind letter of the 12th inst., marked for the attention of the writer, and pleased accept our best thanks for the List of Lubricated positions you recommend for Rolls-Royce Chassis. The sketch of the lubricators you propose to use for the Rollers at the rear end of the Canti-lever Springs is being incorporated in a new blue print, which we are now getting out in correct form, and which will be useful for the purpose of reference. Modified Nipples. We are pleased to learn that these arrived safely and were satisfactory as regards strength. We quite appreciate your remarks as regards the tendency of the ball and spring to become crushed at the bottom of the nipple, and we are experimenting to overcome this. We feel convinced that a stronger spring will entirely eliminate any risk. We are having Springs made at the moment in both one and two gauges stronger for test purposes, and as soon as we have one or two experimental nipples complete we will send same along for further trial. Difference in cost between our standard 1/8" Gas thread Lubricator, and your 5/16" B.S.F. There is no doubt about it that if you standardise 1/8" Gas thread throughout, you would have a considerable cheaper Nipple than your present 5/16", and a very much more efficient nipple. The whole trouble with the small nipples that we have previously made is due to the very small hole we are compelled to drill up the shank for strength, and also the very small spring and ball.
