1379 SECRET. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Ey. c. Sr. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R.29.12.38. PRESS RUN ON THE PAULIN BENTLEY. Sr. has arranged that we can borrow Mons. Embiricos' car for the suggested Press run, provided we loan him some transport during the interval when the car will not be available. We are, therefore, arranging for one of our men to go over to Paris next week with pistons and carburetters to bring the power output of the engine up to what we consider the maximum reliable standard, and having fitted these he will carry out tests at Montlhery, from which it will be possible for him to estimate the performance that can be put up on the Autobahn. Sr. has arranged to take over the car on January 12th and rehearse the circuit(which he proposes to use with the Press man)so that he can make sure that the right road has been selected. During this preliminary run it should be possible to get the time speeds and consumption which should be reproducible during the final test. Unless trouble is experienced, or weather conditions impossible, we anticipate that the car should be ready for the Press Representative's visit by January 18th.
