Carmey 13/2/24 X9946 Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Howes R.R. Derby. Dear Sir, I have duly received your Memos of 6th, 7th, & 8th inst, which I have very carefully considered & noted for further action. - Replying shortly to the Same! We could always obtain 75 m.p.h. on good level roads & slightly over - I have fitted K.L.G. - F 12. Twice many days with advantage - also 20% Benzole has been mixed with Petrol to good advantage, for the engine is increasing 'pinking' on Petrol alone, very considerably - I could not fit the lever you sent with 10% increase on efficiency of Servo - as I noticed it has been pinned & brazed wrongly as per sketch - The short lever is in the opposite direction as compared with the old one in position - I have tonight received the 20% one, on a rough examination, seems to be correct - I will fit on first opportunity - The Servo has never really been inoperative but the pull on the rear brakes when servo shoes were worn, during long journeys, became not so efficient as when Servo was freshly adjusted - I have made my own adjustments & brakes have been much more satisfactory of late & we have done considerable town & taxi work - The brake pedal has never been allowed to touch foot boards - I have seen to that - The levers do not foul in any way - | ||
