- 2 - PHANTOM III 4. Cost Reductions(contd) members of the motor car division at the Works, and it was left that HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} should get together and get the position clarified. The possibility of a reduction of £30. per chassis was to be verified, and the cost of effecting these reductions including cost of the 10,000 miles test. It was felt that the whole matter needs further investigation. It was also decided to look into the possibility of utilizing the R.III box on P.III in order to effect a very substantial saving per chassis in this item alone. WRAITH 1. Costs The figures for factory cost of Wraith are not yet available, and it is anticipated they will not be available until about July. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} points out that there have been so many alterations to the specification, i.e. over 700, that the cost of the frame alone is increased from the original £18.5.0. to £24.2.0. 2. Distributor An R-R distributor with spring drive is now on test, i.e. endurance running. It is anticipated that this type of distributor will be standard on Wraith. 3. Engine Vibrations Recommendations are awaited from the Experimental Dept. for raising the crankshaft critical speed. This in terms of miles | ||
