Minute No.8. Paragraph No.2. I give below a few details on various points that have come to our notice, which are either inaccessible or where a minor alteration would facilitate repair work:- Handwritten (margin): Swall - ENGINE. (1) In the case of an oil leak on the flange of the joint (oil pump suction pipe to sump) the fact that the nuts of the flange securing bolts are inside the sump transforms a 10 minute job into one of 5 hours duration through the necessity of having to drop the sump and side trays etc. to get at these nuts. Would you consider an alteration to the standardisation sheet so that these nuts could be placed outside? Handwritten (margin): Swall Did we not have a scheme for shrouding these filter nuts (2) Owing to the low ground clearance, it is often found that the filter body flange securing studs in the sump have either been sheared or damaged, necessitating their replacement. Here again an alteration to the type of stud and a change in the method of fixing would make their replacement simple. Could not we use a plain stud instead of a stud secured by a lock nut inside the sump rivetted over? Handwritten (margin): Ratcliffe - ✓ Have you any suggestions YES HB.{C. E. Harcombe} (3) Slow running adjustment. The screw stop S.U. Throttle control. Would you consider a spring loaded slow running adjustment screw as used in the Solex carburettor throttle stop as a replacement for the type at present in use? If you examine the fitting in question, you will find that it is virtually an impossibility to get an ordinary spanner on the lock nut after having made the adjustment to the slow running. We invariably find that if Chauffeurs have -contd- | ||
