To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} C. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} C. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Sft.{Mr Swift} X7772. PRIVATE. X7772 X7770 Worl/H.18.7.30. Re: LEFT-HANDED PHANTOM II FOR AMERICA. Will you please order at once 55 sets of material for those parts that are peculiar to the L.H. Chassis? We estimate that approximately the special parts equal about 20% of the whole. Delivery of complete L.H. chassis must be given in January next. Therefore, complete chassis will have to go to Test not later than December, to give Test Department time in which to get through their testing work. It is understood by all that both types of chassis, that is, the R.H. and L.H. when put on test are to be identical. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} should therefore decide without delay the special items that should come on both chassis together. To enable us to put L.H. chassis on test not later than December there is no time to spare, and this means our taking out of "N" series certain material which is common to both types of chassis. We are therefore preparing a programme as to when material should be ordered to replace that taken out of "N" series to keep up continuity of output from December, say - 3 chassis per week for ourselves and 4 for America.
