Coverley - Production Engineer} PRIVATE BOWERING file 25/30 H.P. Cost Reductions. Petrol Filler - Section 7080. With reference to Sft{Mr Swift}/WMM.1/EJ.8.1.36. and E.1/HP.19.12.35. re the suggestion of producing a petrol filler in halves welded together, we are preparing a design for the 25/30 H.P. car. The sample we sent you was for Phantom III. This long petrol filler is not needed on the Bentley of the present design, and in any case it is hoped to meet the Sales requirements of an outside filler for Bentley in the coachwork. This filler we are also trying experimentally on Phantom III, but it cannot be made applicable to the 25/30 H.P. because of the shape of the tank, which is controlled by the narrow chassis frame; but it will be introduced on Wraith II. It does therefore appear that the construction of the welded tube might achieve a saving during the existence of the 25 H.P. and also on Phantom III on which there will be a similar filler until such time as the filler on the coachwork is available.
