We have a further case of spring distortion taking place, this time on an Experimental Car - 1-B-IV. The front springs have been removed and we have had all the leaves brinell tested. Below are the brinell figures of the two Woodhead springs :- No. 1 Spring. No. 2 Spring. Top 418 Top 418 2 430 2 418 3 430 3 418 4 402 4 418 5 440 5 418 6 418 6 430 7 387 7 418 8 418 8 418 These figures show that the brinell of all the leaves is with one exception over our maximum figure of 369-401, which would indicate that it is not entirely a question of brinell. Possibly the fitting of rebound leaves would assist the springs. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Dodd. | ||
