We have now done a certain amount of investigation on automatic starting arrangements for S.U. carburettors and at the moment it seems that any alternative to the small solenoid starting carburettor is too complicated. The main disadvantage of the solenoid carburettor is that it is not progressive. If it could be made to weaken off as the water temperature rises, it would not have to be cut out so early and would give us almost everything we require. Now that we have overcome freezing my experience is that it gives a very good start. Would you please look into the matter and see if you have any recommendations.
