S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x754 Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}5/KW17.9.35. At the Technical Conference at W. on Wednesday of last week, I think you - or possibly Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} - asked whether I could find out through Br what news there was (if any) concerning the hydraulic tappets on 104-MY, which is the car Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} used which was ultimately sold to Sir Stewart Duke-Elder. I have had a memo from Br which reads as follows :- " This car has run approximately 4,400 miles since it was " generally reconditioned prior to its being taken over by " Sir Stewart Duke-Elder. When it had covered approximately " 3,000 miles we had the car here to deal with sticking valves " and at that time the tappets were working perfectly. Nothing " was mentioned to us about these by the driver. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Rwb | ||
