STEEL ARTILLERY WHEELS ON PHANTOM
WITH NEW AXLE.

Herewith we send N.sch.2215 shewing the method
of mounting steel artillery wheels on the new front axle.
It also involves a new hub on the rear axle.
As regards the spoking of the steel wheel we want
12 spokes, but we do not intend to tie you down to the exact
dimensions, radii, etc., shewn on this drawing, but to follow
standard practice.
It will be seen that we have slightly modified
the locking device so as to eliminate the 2nd. row of cast-
ellations which was visible from the outside.
Mr. Royce has also suggested reducing the ball
bearing centres on the front wheel so as to save a good deal
of overhang. This involves a special stub axle and a larger
outer ball bearing.
