BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} re. BENSPORT (B.3.) FRONT FLOOR. We send herewith N. sch. 3607 shewing the horizontal front floorboards, and the cover around the gearbox tower. We have shewn the longitudinals as channel sections which we hope will be used, but should the box section members be retained the fixings for the central aluminium floor will need slightly to be modified. We are asking for a retaining groove to be cast and machined on the gear tower to retain the rubber ring, and to enable the hole in the floor casting to be large enough to pass over the bell of the change speed lever. We are also asking for a guide to be fitted around the pawl rod of the brake lever in the neighbourhood of the top of the rubber stocking. This can be forged solid as drawn, or made as a separate piece as on the present P. 2. and 25 HP., whichever Works prefer. With regard to the sloping footboard shewn on N. sch. 3563., already sent to you for B. 2. this all holds good for B.3. except the central plate, which can now be less in size and in its amount of dishing. This we will send in a subsequent scheme in a few days. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
