+4038. Expl: Dept: 1st. Sept. 1928. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG. Messrs. H.M.Hobson Ltd., 47-55 Acton Vale, London W.3. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Major Searight. We have been having trouble with the old type gauges which we have fitted to a number of our experimental cars. At the present moment several of these gauges are behaving erratically, some consistently losing 4 or 5 galls. in the night. We have carefully followed the instructions as to drying the pipe line etc. and have gone over the whole installation for leaks but we do not seem to be able to get these gauges right. As we have quite a number of such installations in customers cars on the road, we wonder whether you could let one of your men come up here and shew us where we are coming unstuck. You will appreciate that on our experimental cars the gauges are frequently being connected and dis-connected but we have always understood that we could dry the pipe line no matter how long it had been lying about. If pipe lines that have been lying about require any special treatment and you could let us know what it is, we could try this before asking your man to put us right. Yours faithfully, | ||
