8/1029 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}5/MA. 27th October, 1936. The Birmingham Aluminium casting, Co.Ltd., Birmid Works, Smethwick, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, Aluminium brake drums. Further to my conversation with Mr.Herbert Evans at Olympia, I should like to know if the brake drum you made for Aston Martin, Ltd., in R.R.53 alloy were given the heat treatment detailed in Data sheet 17 of your book, i.e. quenched from over 500°C. In view of the fact that we have many drums made in R.R.53 now running on cars, I should be glad to clear up the mystery of the failure of the Aston Martin Drums. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
