6066. EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}14/JH. 29th. November, 1938. Joseph Lucas Ltd., Great King Street, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr. Toulmin. Dear Sirs, During the recent 15,000 miles trials, carried out with one of our Bentley cars, it was reported that the horn with the lower note occasionally failed. Failure appeared to take place irrespective of the car being stationary, or moving, or the horns being operated on the loud side, or the soft side. We have tried these horns on the bench, and find that the lower-note horn does fail sometimes, when operated on 10 volts, but seems to be quite alright on 12 volts. It seems to us that this horn may be slightly out of adjustment, and we are therefore arranging for the despatch of both horns to you for investigation. We shall be glad to hear your report in due course. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
