Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. Leslie Kent.

We should be obliged if you would send us a further 12 - G5 diaphragm assemblies for the Standard Pumps as we intend to run a further Endurance Test. I am enclosing a small sample of GACO synthetic rubber impregnated on to both sides of a fabric base which may interest you for diaphragm material. At present I have had a sample diaphragm running for 30 hours in cold Ethyl petrol. We have also had a sample in Pyridene but though it increases in thickness the fabric appears to prevent it increasing in length. Thus so far it shows promise and should be worth following up.

I would be glad if you could hold up the faulty G5 pumps which are returned from outside or the Works and let me know when there are a sufficient number to justify a visit to inspect them. You will remember we made the arrangement just before the change-over of the diaphragm but owing to the extra work it involved as well as the delay, this was not carried out.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
