-2- There is then the question of the age of the car. Some of our owners run 50,000 miles before the guarantee expires. In such cases owners would be willing to pay for improvements on account of the service the car has given before three years have expired. There are so many points to consider that each individual job should be judged on its merits. In order to assist in coming to a decision in these cases we have had a Form made, copy of which is attached, which gives sufficient information to enable one quickly to make a recommendation. If the Depots could suggest improvements I should be glad, and if they would care to have some we will make arrangements to get them printed. Depot Sheets. These are a means of advising all concerned of the latest methods of overcoming troubles on the chassis. They are not necessarily meant to cancel previous methods, but in cases where cures have been found difficult or impossible on certain cars, the instructions are meant to be carried out on such cars. There is no definite rule as regards charging for this work when it is carried out. Each case should be judged on its merits and recommendations made to the Administration by the Technical Head of the Depot or Department dealing with the work. Quarterly Complaint Reports. These are records of complaints, work on which has been carried out free of charge during the quarter. The records are compiled from the Works, Cricklewood and Paris. The principal object is to show our designers and Experimental Dept. what are the chief faults in the cars. They are not intended as a guide to free of charge work. Depots should use their discretion when recommending to the Administration any of the items as free of charge. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
