Re Key Cards.

A misapprehension appears to have grown up during the past few years among Technical Heads of Repair Depots and Departments, that Key Cards are a definite instruction that the parts mentioned on the Key Cards are to be replaced on all cars turned out within the period mentioned on the Key Card, free of charge.

This is entirely incorrect, and it has therefore been agreed by the Administration that the Key Card scheme shall be abandoned.

This scheme, in so far as its utility to Depots is concerned, is covered by the Depot Sheets or the Quarterly Complaint Reports.

I am instructed in this memo. to state the object of the Depot Sheets and Quarterly Complaint Reports, as it would appear at times their objects are misconstrued.

Although on the Key Cards a guide was given as to the period that work should be carried out free of charge, experience has proved that this guide is not at all reliable. There can be no hard and fast rule on any of the free of charge jobs, and Technical Heads of Departments should consider each case on its merits.

Possibly much free of charge work would be paid for by an owner if such work were modernising and the customer were told he would be having the benefit of an improved design.

Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
