WORKS & HEAD OFFICE: STANFORD RD YOUR REF 24th August, 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, Derby. Dear Sirs, Attention of Mr. Rowbotham. We are enclosing a copy of letter which we have received from Dennis Bros. Limited in connection with A.C.9. Bearings; also enclosed is copy of letter written to High Duty Alloys on the same subject. Perhaps you will be good enough to let us know whether you agree with the course which we have suggested, or whether we should definitely abandon any further attempts to meet the requirements of this job, which we feel, however, would definitely effect the possibilities of the A.C.Bearing if we allow this position to go on, and incidentally there is a further point concerning Dennis Bros. in that they have ordered for the C.I. Engine bearings in A.C.6 which they originally tried out on this engine, and at the moment they state that they will not consider using the A.C.9 in view of their unfortunate experiences on the centre-main bearing on another engine in the A.C.9. material. Yours faithfully, for WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LIMITED. FG Blackith Technical Manager. | ||
