Re. 100 Miles an Hour Streamlined Bentley Car.

Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/R.27.11.33.

The original object of the streamlined car can be achieved from the car we have. Technically we have no reason to desire any other car. It is admitted that the seating capacity is restricted, but this was known at the time the body was put in hand.

As regards Mr. Fedden's proposal, it is more for Sales to decide whether they wish to develop that type of body. We think it is probable that apart from what we decide, certain coachbuilders will offer such a body as an alternative to our standard models. The only work this involves on us is to prove out that the fixing of the cycle-type wings is satisfactory. At the moment until we have proved that point we could not recommend them for customers' use. To prove out the safety of the existing car we are carrying out certain tests on the wing fixing because if these type of wings came adrift it might cause a serious accident.
