With reference to your E/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MN.20.5.35., there is no objection whatever to using the metal braid on the new suggested armoured cable as an earth return, in fact the whole feature of this scheme is that the metal braiding should be used as an earth conductor and always should be bonded to the chassis frame to act as an electrostatic shield for the wires from the point of view of eliminating radio interference. What must be avoided is the use of the braiding for anything else except as an earth, i.e. it must not be used as a return wire from saya body lamp where the lamp is on the positive side.
