Questioning the recommended tyre pressures for various chassis, comparing them to lower pressures for better comfort.

I mention the matter as, for the 20 HP. I am now running, unladen, Front Axle .... 14 cwts. Rear Axle .... 18 cwts Tyres ........ 19 x 6" the Instruction Book specifies: Fronts ... 35 lbs Rears .... 35 lbs whereas I am running on.............. Fronts ... 23 lbs Rears .... 26 lbs and there is no doubt the added comfort is well worth the lower pressure. I am quite expecting to get good mileage with same, these figures being agreed by officials of the Dunlop Experimental Department at Fort Dunlop. In making the official recommendation to the public doubtless they play for safety; but you will see the figures on which I am running are much below those recommended. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
