-4- matrix punctured. The front number plate is too low. PETROL PUMPS. The worst feature with these is that when running on main, three or four gallons before the reserve is reached, the petrol may momentarily surge away from the suction pipe and the pumps clatter noisily; this gets steadily worse until finally the reserve is reached - the cure is - (1) Silent petrol pumps, or (2) Better tank baffling. PLUGS. X.318's condemned for burning of the central electrode. PETROLS. The car can be driven on ordinary French petrol by judicious use of the ignition control, but a certain amount of performance is lost. Esso, which can be obtained anywhere, or Azur, are quite as good as the British Ethyl. On the Riviera petrol can be obtained with a guaranteed octane value of 80, with this all detonation is suppressed. BENSPORT BODY. As a result of a good run on Bensport, we have the following criticisms to make:- (1) A penetrating draught comes from the back of the sunshine roof on to the neck of the passenger and driver at speeds above 70 m.p.h. (the roof being closed). (2) There is no light provided on the dash that can conveniently be used for map reading by the passenger when the car is in motion. (3) The space for suitcases seems singularly unfortunate in dimensions as it is not quite deep enough to take two suitcases, one on top of the other, and not quite wide enough for them side side. A slight increase in the depth would seem to be the simplest solution. (4) B.hopps' car made by Mulliners had a quick release catch which enabled the driver's seat to slide back for getting out on the O.S. This would be a great asset on this car. | ||
