Dear Sir,

With reference to your letter of the 3rd. October.

We agree with you that in the future it would be best for us to submit working drawings for you to work to.

In the case of the stop, which has caused us so much trouble, we received the drawings of the modifications with your letter W.D. 610/108/S, dated September 18th.

The prototype mounting and gun had to be despatched from our works on September 20th.

You will agree that this gave us no time to take the matter up with you, or to get the correct parts made, without delaying the firing trials of the gun.

We are aware that you have a direct Contract with the Admiralty for the production of these mountings; however, we are, and must remain, responsible for the prototypes. Unfortunately, the requirements with regard to shields, were changed at the last minute.

We appreciate the expedition with which you have produced these sample mountings.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
