COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM L.M. & S. WW.6102/193/9 3rd. October. 1940. W.A.Robotham,Esq., Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sir, MOUNTINGS - 40 mm. GUN. With reference to your letter of the 30th. September. The alteration to the horizontal parking stop was made to facilitate machining; the arrangement as you viewed it was not considered satisfactory for production. As regards the last paragraph of your letter, as far as I know all copies of drawings were sent to you. If we are to have no latitude in design it seems to me that it would be better for you to submit working drawings for us to work to. As we now hold a direct Contract from the Government for the production of these mountings, I propose in future to deal direct with the Admiralty and get their sanction to the mountings we are producing under this Contract. I have today had a visit from Engineer Commander Smith, who has seen the stop we now propose to fit and considers it satisfactory. I have arranged with Commander Smith to deal with him direct in future on all questions in connection with the production of this mounting. Yours faithfully, | ||
