The Tempered Spring Co.,
Burton Weir Works,
SHEFFIELD 4.

Dear Sirs,

Although we have satisfactorily carried out long periods of running on several chassis with the Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}260 springs which you supplied some time ago, we have on the other hand broken 2 similar springs after 50 hours running on the test bed.

This therefore puts us in two minds regarding these springs and we wonder if by the condition of the fractures on the two failed springs you may be able to offer some explanation for the failures.

We are returning these springs to you under separate cover.

Yours faithfully

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
