Inefficient fan, proposing a modification with new aluminium blades, and the repair of a failed C.A.V dynamo due to overheating.

+ 35 and is a long way from the radiator. I presume it is fixed a long way from the radiator to allow for shutters or cowling to be fitted in the final design but to use it as it is now makes it very inefficient. If you have a better fan or some cowling I should be glad to have same sent here to try. Meanwhile I have bought a piece of aluminium sheet and propose to make some broader and longer fan blades and rivet them on to the existing blades to see if we can make the fan move more air and prevent the water boiling under the circumstances mentioned. We have just taken to pieces the C.A.V dynamo which failed and there does not appear to be much wrong with it except the frayed wires but the varnish etc has melted and run evidently due to very high temperature. We are now re-assembling the parts after taping up the wires afresh and will test it a little later. Since writing the above we have fixed up the dynamo and find that it works correctly again.
