3 P and proceeded further up the hill 3/4 but had to return as the water boiled again very soon and none was available for replacement. We returned to the 2 mile mark, filled up with cold water and went to the bottom of the hill and repeated the test starting with a full radiator and water temperature of 50° cent and the results were practically the same. The amount of rise in the two miles was 825 feet registered on the aneroid. Later in the day we had a violent thunder storm with very heavy rain and toward evening after the rain we went out again in the cool air and repeated the test to see if the air temperature made a difference but there was very little difference in the results the water just beginning to boil at the 2 mile mark and the loss of water being 7 pints. The starting temperature on this occasion was about 70°C. The wind was a following one during both tests. The fan belt was tight. The fan itself is a very feeble one and appeared to be almost useless under the circumstances. It is very small | ||
