tube was the cause. There was too much load on the rear ball pin. The springs in the working position were choc. The side steering tube length of recess appears to be at fault as the spring units are correct lenght according to the drawing. There has been plenty of lubrication on the ball pins.

PIVOT PINS - G.101215/6.

The pivot pins have been short of lubrication, the bottom bearing is scored and was almost dry. The latest modifications had not been carried out, but the bottom thrust washer has only one groove instead of the standard three. The flow of oil through the filter was not sufficient. The bottom cap was free from oil leaks.

FRONT AXLE & BRAKES LOP.GB.870-N.S.3753-3772.

1° Pivot lean.

No oil was found on the brakes. the shoes and drums were in a very good condition. It has not been necessary to adjust the brakes up to the present mileage.

PROPELLER SHAFT & UNIVERSAL JOINT LOP.G.54802-N.S.3685-GL.{G. Linnett}632. N.S.3827.

New, incorporating N.S.3827 Needle bearings 19-Needle Roller Bearings 2.5 M/M dia. X 15.8 M/M long fitted in each bearing.

We have examined the rear universal joint. The roller bearings are in a 100% condition. There is no sign of seizure or wear.

REAR BRAKES LOP.G.101176-LeC.3380-G.L.617-N.S.3748.

These are in a very good condition. No oil has travelled down the axle shafts into the brake housing.

PETROL TANK LOP.F.B.374-LeC.3411-3433-3528.

The float type petrol tank causes an airlock to take place whenfilling the last two gallons. A slight tunnel from the centre to the bottom of the filler would overcome the trouble. Petrol fumes have been noticed in the body when the tank has been completely filled. The pump supply pipe becomes uncovered when down to 3 gallons by the swishing of the petrol.
