1135. FERODO LTD CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH STOCKPORT ENGLAND Telephone CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH 250 (7 lines) Telegrams FRICTION PHONE CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH TECHNICAL DEPT. 29th March, 1940 WES/ET. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} / EDWARDS Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Car Experimental Department, DERBY. Dear Sirs, The writer would refer to his interview with your Mr. Edwards on the 7th instant, when the re-establishment of fan belt and pulley tests was discussed. We understand that the respective merits of cast iron, steel and aluminium pulleys, as well as belt capacity is under investigation, for a three point drive incorporating a fan estimated to absorb 16 H.P. at 4,500 R.P.M. We informed you that our belt testing machine is now available for such work, and it was arranged that you would supply us with the various types of pulleys. We would in all probability have to modify the bosses of these pulleys in order to mount them on our shafts, and it was arranged that any necessary alterations of this description could be carried out here. We have not heard from you with regard to this matter, and we wonder how far you have progressed with regard to the provision of the necessary pulleys. As soon as/they are available and mounted on the machine we consider that Mr. Edwards might usefully call here and see the commencement of the tests in question. Yours faithfully, FERODO LIMITED.
