To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.8430 SECRET. 'V' SERIES. STEERING. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M28.4.25. Herewith we send N.sch.1966., shewing an arrgt. of mounting the steering box which Mr. Royce would like to rig up and try as soon as possible. We do not expect you to adhere exactly to the details shewn as long as the general principle namely, a sphere as near the outside edge of the frame as possible, and a link at the other end which can swing, is adhered to. You may use any details such for instance as the Hawk-Northcliffe pieces, if you find you conveniently can. Mr. Royce is very keen on this, and would like it to be tried as quickly as ever possible.
