( 6 ) 29) Partition Bracket Broken where attached to Automatic Winding Mechanism. The trouble was preceded by the partition sticking half way which probably overloaded the bracket. 30) Rear Seat Caught Fire. This is supported by a large area of canvas and felt held by a very weak frame and sagged onto the swan neck. A wooden board with asbestos fitted over the swan neck has been made. If canvas is essential to give a soft cushion, the area will have to be as small as possible to prevent sagging. 31) Door Locks Would Not Work. These were not lineable and required a considerable amount of fitting to make them work correctly. 32) Seal Round Windscreen not Satisfactory. This consisted of felt strips which came adrift as on S.S.V. The trouble was taken to Park Wards and an improved seal has been promised. TYRES. 33) Uneven Wear of Front Tyres. This caused bad reactions on the steering. The wear is eccentric and patches have also developed. The tread is still very good at the outside edge. The centre is smooth and the inner edge is worn down noticeably lower than the centre. The inner edge of the rear tyres is also worn very much more than the outer edge. We believe this to be due to high speed cornering at very low pressures. The steering reactions were not noticed until the tyres were nearly smooth. ----------------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} | ||
