( 5 ) 23) Rattles Audible up steering Control Tubes. One at low speeds on cobbles, and one due to engine vibration at about 40 m.p.h. which would not otherwise be noticeable. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. 24) Lucas Windtone Horns. The trumpets continually work loose although American type lock washers are now fitted to the securing set screws. The offside horn fell off due to breakage of the screws attaching them to the brackets. These are both troubles which have occurred before but it is now agreed that these horns are unsuitable for Continental use. We were however, unable to obtain any high frequency horns for this car through the usual channels. 25) Lucas Screen Wipers. The small arc, already complained of on S.E.V., is most apparent on the larger windscreen of the limousine body and most unsatisfactory. The combination of wind eddies and excessive backlash produces a very irregular wiping action. These are the worst wipers sent out to France for sometime. BODYWORK. 26) Dust Enters Boot. This trouble has always been experienced unless a second dust flap has been provided. The exception is the corniche where the absence of eddies behind eliminates the trouble. It also overcomes the exhaust fume problem. 27) Central Windscreen Operating Mechanism has too much Backlash and Rattles. We should not like to see such a convenient and acceptable way of operating the screen turned down because of poor detail work. 28) Door Catch Fell off Nearside Front Pillar. Screws loose and broken. Poor detail work. | ||
