BY/CRL.{C. R. Lisson}5/E.11.5.38.

PHANTOM III. - OVERDRIVE GEARBOX.

Herewith are my comments due to complaints received from Works during the assembly of the first Production Overdrive Gearbox.

COMPLAINT.
(1). Adjusting Washer G.83884/5/6/7. unsuitable for 2nd. Motion Shaft Front Bearing.

We are in agreement with this. The Washer is now cancelled from LOP. and new Washer G.85383/4/5/6/7. is instructed.

REASON :-
Exptl: Dept. LOP. Error.

COMPLAINT.
(2). Washer behind 3rd. Motion Shaft Rear Bearing too thin.

We are in agreement with this. The Washer is now cancelled from LOP. New Washer (Standard Phan.III.) G.56735/6/7/8/9. added.

REASON :-
The Exptl: Dept. requested a thinner Washer, but this was incorrect as the lengths of the pieces are the same as Standard Phan.III. Gearboxes.

COMPLAINT.
(3). Insufficient movement of the 3rd. & 4th. Synchro-Mesh Cones.

REASON :-
The 4th. Speed Outer Cone .025 long.
(Machining error).
