To Sr. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} 1245 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}10.11.37. CONFIDENTIAL. CHATEAUROUX. We thank you for your memo Sr/Crn.4/4.11.37 regarding Mr.Behnan. The question of appointing somebody from Derby to proceed to Chateauroux to attend to office matters arose at a time when G.W.H. was running the French testing, and felt the need of a secretary when he returned to England for depôt work in between his visits to Chateauroux. In the case of the writer, this need no longer exists and we shall find it difficult to replace Mr. Behnan, as he is now thoroughly conversant with the job and has proved himself most satisfactory. We do not, however, wish to stand in his way if he can improve his position by obtaining a permanent appointment with you. At the same time it appears that 15,000 miles tests in France will occur with very much less frequency than in the past, and that under these circumstances you will perhaps find it easier to let us have his services, at any rate for the next tests. We have also discussed the matter of raising his salary in relation to the change of economic conditions in France and would appreciate your views as to what would be a reasonable figure. We should like to have your further views at an early date, as we expect to be sending a car to France shortly for 15,000 miles test. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M.
