To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.7/KT*3.7.33.

Will you please have the following modifications made to the test bed oil cooler, Ex.11426, supplied to us recently.

(1) Repair matrix - latter has burst under pressure, leak being along one of the edges.

(2) Remove the three corner tubes nearest to the oil inlet union, also remove three corner tubes nearest to the oil outlet union, in order to reduce the local restriction at at these points.

(3) Fit supporting ribs for bottom plate of matrix by fitting three 3/4" wide strips longitudinally in bottom of box casing (see sketch) the thickness of the strips being so adjusted that when top plate of cooler is bolted to casing, the bottom plate of matrix just bears on these strips.

(4) Fit hand controlled by-pass, as shown in accompanying sketch, the by-pass and three stop cocks can either be fitted permanently to the cooler, or to cooler oil pipes in use on the bed.

These alterations are required as soon as possible.
