SC. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} SECRET. R4/M11.7.29. C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} [Strikethrough] DY.{F R Danby} [Strikethrough] SS.{S. Smith} EXHAUST. ORIGINAL [Stamped] X'/230. Re. SS.{S. Smith} I feel certain the roar is due to the unsuitable exhaust system, but varies considerably with different bodies. (In my 18-EX. it is nearly absent.) We propose abandoning the long tube and cutout, fitting a new type of rear silencer which has no organ pipe. Breaking up the length has not proved a complete cure. Regarding the Bentley car we do not require purchase. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
