This shows the reliability of the machine electrically to be reasonably good.

The magneto was then dismantled for examination.

Mechanically the magneto was perfectly OK, the end bearing which is not provided with a lubricating oilway being still full of lubricant.
The contact breaker points had worn down about 75% from which we estimate the contact point life at 20000 miles.
Three of the distributor segments shewed signs of burning at the edge but otherwise the distributor was OK.
The distributor bakelite wheel and the plain bearing were also in good condition.
