TYRES - DUNLOP TRIPLE STUD.

We were very much interested in reading RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/MP.2.28.

Our trouble in regard to noise of tyres is almost entirely on smooth asphalt roads. On such surfaces there is a continuous roar which is most objectionable and tiring - in fact one might be driven in the most noisy car and hardly be conscious of the fact because all noises are drowned by the tyres.

Therefore the RR loses one of its great advantages, namely silence.

We are most anxious to retainthe non-skid quality of the tyres, but we believe that by persistently and vigorously pursuing the tyre makers, they will be able to find us a comparatively silent tyre which still does not skid.

Unless we do so, it is no use our continuing to build silent RR cars, and our customers will soon realise that it is no use them paying the very high price for the silence of RR cars when it does not exist owing to the tyres.

For this reason we feel that we must not let this matter rest for one moment, and must let the tyre manufacturers realise that we do not intend to bind ourselves to any maker if some other maker can supply us with a comparatively silent tyre that does not skid.

BJ.
