At the same time I am sure they would be all wrong if they are tight in any other place than directly under the driving teeth. You can imagine a slightly taper bore in a gear of very little over one dia. long, which would be certain to be moving on the shaft, whereas a narrow line of teeth right under the gear with a cylindrical fit to control the gear when it is loose at one or both ends, should give satisfaction.

As regards the servo drive we have sent you changes of design which more than double the surface, and we are now sending you a scheme of pots and pipes, which should make certain of oil being continually poured upon the wormwheel. It may not be necessary to go all the way, but we think that any new material should have the increased surface, and facility for the lubrication suggested.
