-12- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}S/JH.4.5.36. interference fit of .026" to .028" (on diameter) for 12" drums. We have found that raising drums to 200ºC is sufficient to enable such liners to be inserted, if they are kept well away from furnaces until required. The drums should be taken out of the ovens one by one, placed on a non-conducting table out of draughts and the liners immediately dropped in. We find we can use practically any liner in these drums and may later wish to change to .5% carbon steel ( to save cost ) or Brimal iron (to do away with fixing devices). The Ferodo used with Aluminium drums should be S.5805 secured with ordinary counter-sunk rivets. This lining has a wear resistance of about 2/3 times that of F.B.A. and there is no reason why advantage should not be taken of this fact in future designs. We attach 3 graphs which may be of interest. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
