Dear Sirs,

The following is a copy of my assistant's report concerning a Lucas type ER6 magneto, which we think may be of interest to you in view of the fact of the utilisation of tungsten points on this magneto.

We should be interested to know if your experiments with tungsten points have proceeded any further.

"This magneto has now been removed from expl. chassis 8-EX after completing 14,178 miles running.

This magneto has been dismantled in the lab. for examination, and was found to be in excellent condition, the tungsten contact breaker points especially shewing hardly any wear, surface bedding being good with absence of oxidation.

The magneto was then reassembled without any adjustments made and tested on the bench.

H.T. sparking on 5.5 mm. gaps in air was found to be very good, the magnetos firing the gaps regularly at 45 r.p.m. fully advanced and 120 r.p.m. fully retarded after an hour's run at high speed. (Our specification calls for 170 r.p.m. retarded).

Contd.
