CHATEAUROUX. 300a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.9/JAB.24.8.37. To. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 32-EX. PHANTOM III. This car will be on the road tomorrow with needle bearings at both ends of the top triangles. From bouncing the car in the garage,it appears that the suspension will have sufficient freedom, We started by changing the yoke to top triangle bearings only. These gave about 50% improvement, but the car was still too harsh. The near side bearing had been short of oil and was almost seized. We have now had the radiator and wings off to fit needles to the main housing bearings. The plain bushes in the main housing were in good condition. We have also been chasing a very elusive knock which appears to come from the near side pivot when the front of the car is bounced. It is quite a bad knock, so I should very much like to investigate this further when the car is back at the Works, and there are some production replacement parts to try. Can you try to prevent the near side front wheel assembly from being dismantled. ------------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} I.J.Leelio | ||
