Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X8080 R5/M7.9.27. 40/50 HP. & 20 HP. CARBS. X.5080 X.8080 X.4351 It will be remembered that I experienced corrosion of air valve, causing sticking. The following is the suggested improvement - (1) Cathode treatment of air valve. (2) Hall or other alloy that is not so corrosible, though the specific gravity is under 3. The first would be good if fitting and polishing does not remove the protective surface, therefore possibly item (2) is the better, but could this have cathode treatment if it is found effective after surface removed by fitting and polishing.
