X8080 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY6/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 19.9.27. PHANTOM. LOW SPEED CARBURETTER JET SPINDLE. ------------------------------------------- Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/LG.16.9.27. the clearances given are so big and appear to have been so from the start, that one is inclined to think that these large clearances have been pushed upon us initially by the fact that the carburetter spindle has to be returned by the spring, whilst it is positively lifted by the action of the lever on the screw thread, it is only returned by the light spring pressure. I am instructing E.Dept. to give you three spindles produced to .247 minus 2. If these work satisfactorily, we would like you to try them on a number of MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}' carburetters and then if they prove to be satisfactory, I will be prepared to alter the drawing. At the moment I am a little doubtful about altering until it has been demonstrated that with the less clearances the spindle will operate freely in both directions. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
