To C.J. from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to B.J. c. to CWB. 4235 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 3/LG10.3.26. HYDRAULIC SHOCK ABSORBERS. 4235 X8430 CWB21/INS.3.26. We will certainly let you have further information on this matter as soon as it is available. Although we have considered there is a possibility of effecting an improvement on existing cars as regards the shocks felt on the steering by fitting hydraulic shock dampers, at present we are not in a position to recommend them. We are of the opinion that whatever results we obtain from the hydraulic shock absorbers, we shall always require the [strikethrough] low geared steering chiefly because if we use lower pressure tyres, more effort is required to turn the wheels and therefore low geared steering is essential. The problems of suspension including tyres, springs and dampers, steering and wobbles are all inter-connected, and so complex that we are not in a position to make any definite statement at the moment.
