RECEIVED 2 SEP 1931 appreciably. Right from the beginning we noticed a lack of consistency in carburetter setting. Since the American company agreed not to manufacture any more they decided that they did not require my services any longer, and just at the present time I am very busy looking round for something to do. At this particular time this is rather discouraging since every body is cutting down their staff to the very limit. In normal times I believe I could have got fixed up in a very short time but now it looks as if I shall have to stay idle until business begins to improve a little. Caswell is now trying - not very successfully at the present time - to sell Packard and Cars in Springfield. every body's salary at the plant has been cut & I don't believe there is a week goes by without somebody else being let out - so you can see things are not very good. Congratulations to all on the Schneider Trophy business - it was rather a farce not having any body to beat, but still it is very fine to have set a new record. Kindest regards to all. yours... Rolt.
