J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Howlett Esq.,
Messrs. Wellworthy Piston Rings Ltd.,
Lymington,
Hants.

Dear Mr. Howlett,

We are interested in your letter of July 24th, in which you point out that the Daimler Co. fitted Simplex rings as original equipment.

With a view to trying these rings out we are proposing to take an oil consumption on one of our engines and then send you the pistons for conversion to Simplex, afterwards repeating the oil consumption. We shall then have a direct comparison of the value of these rings.

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
