-3- had an angle of 10º and were about 1¼" wide.(in one piece but not endless). They informed us that they are making very great efforts to manufacture our cones in this way but have not yet succeeded. They are however continuing their efforts, and from the samples submitted it is evident they are making some progress, although it is a big step from 10º to 15º and from 1¼" wide to 3" wide. It occurs to me that if they could obtain 15º with 1¼" fabric, we could then fit two rings side by side without much difficulty, although this would require 4 rows of rivets. They would probably be able to obtain this more easily than a 3" cone of 15º. I must apologise for not having forwarded to you a drawing of the segment cone clutch as promised. This I send you herewith, and as previously advised, the diffi- culty we experienced was that the ends of the segments gave exactly the same trouble as the edges of our present cone. | ||
