-2- I am sorry something should have occurred that has raised the question in your mind again and given you the impression that we are undecided as to how to proceed. I should like to send you one of our present standard cone clutches fitted up according to our present practice, because the job looks far better than I anticipated it would do. If you will advise me I will send you one which has been running for some period. The whole point is that we could not satisfy Mr Platford by increasing the number of rivets but we could and did satisfy him by adopting wire stitching. I think it only right to remind you that Mr Nadin, Mr Platford and myself have pressed forward the question of wire stitching but Mr Wormald and Mr Bailey have been in favour of continuing with the many rivets. We are of course relying on Mr Platford in this matter but at the same time, from my observations of various clutches, I am entirely in agreement with him as to the relative efficiencies of the two devices. With reference to the scheme of staples suggested by you, we now have a cone machined up and it has this morning been handed to the fitters for the purpose of fitting the fabric, the works look on this scheme with great favour. With reference to obtaining the fabric woven on a bias, Mr Nadin has again taken the matter up with The Scandinavian Belting Co. and their representative called recently with two sample cones made for another firm, which | ||
